Should of put this in the electronics section. So I mounted my Transformer Prime using the Koala Mount from Dockem.com I used 3m VHB double sided foam tape. This is by no means final, i know its off center (due to the parking break button) and a fraction tilted one way (its only noticeable in the photo, it doesnt look as bad in person). I just wanted to get this idea out there becuase im enjoying it alot! Future plans are to: 1. modify left mount to straddle the parking button a little so it can be more center. 2. retape so you cant see as much tape from the side and top. But it looks good to me now as it is and ive been testing it for about a week now. At the angle it sits at, you dont see any reflections of the windows. I had another mount that was more straight up and down and you could see the the windows and the person in the pasenger seat very well when its daytime. Things i like about this mount: 1. the plastic mounts are very light and sturdy. so they wont be constantly trying to peel away from your dash when its sitting in the sun. By the way VHB stands for very high bonding so this mount is gonna stick. Ive also used this VHB tape on my previous mount and it didnt leave any marks or damage after i removed it. 2.alot of surface area for double sided tape. roughly 3/4"x3" 3. mounts have a clip for my charging wire and headphone wire. Would like to run wires so they arent exposed some day. 4. very slim profile. the tablet looks really flush when mounted 5. Snug fit. The tablet doesnt move at all when driving, unless you are going over speed humps constantly. Yes I do have my Asus Transformer Prime hooked up in my 06 prius and I use it for many reasons (GPS, torque program, pandora, movies and tv shows, etc). I have the original JBL System with the aux port (3.5mm headphone port) being in the middle console/armrest.
nicely done and very clean... i was about to do something like that before, but doing so blocked a few useful controls. so i thought i'd use the lower console cover and 'velcroed' a door hinge and another thin velcro strip underneath the top portion of the opening. this will stick to the other velcro on the back and side of my 7" tablet. if i don't want to use the tablet, i'll just fold the door hinge a bit and i can close the cover completely.
@Agent J Very nice! I really like the hinge idea, very creative. Is that 5 displays i count in there? That is alot of info at your fingertips. What do you monitor? Buttons wise i haven't had a problem with covering any that i use alot. The Volume control and audio button were the only buttons i was using before i put my tablet in there. Now i just use the steering wheel controls. It also covers up the mpg but if i need to know that i can just switch over to the Torque app.
Thanks, rosco64209... my original plan for the tablet was for Torque but apparently the OBDII can't simultaneously feed info to SGII. so i chose the latter. I'm now looking at the Priidash. For me, the 4 gauges i view mostly are BTA, SOC, IGN, and RPM. the rest i just glance from time to time. The small one on the left is just a tire pressure monitor. anyway, back to the thread topic.. The angle of your tablet is ideal. The problem i have with mine is mostly glare coming from above. It's fine at night, but during daytime, the screen loses contrast. might be the screen protector though..
fantastic! i was thinking of purchasing a nexus 7 to use as a GPS and media player. Thankfully my radio controls are all routed to my head unit which sits in the cubby hole now.
got to love this.. i have a defender case on mine.. will the Koala Damage-free iPad Wall Mount fit it ? how good is the mount.. sturdy?
