How about "Stolen Prius"

    I've been wondering if there are any cases of stolen Prii. The computerized key matching with or without smartkey would seem to put off most carnappers. I would guess that system would also make hot wiring of the ignition fruitless.

    I know that if a smart key driver leaves the car with the power on, it can be driven away, but once shut down, it can't be restarted. And presumably only Toyota dealers can make the car operable again with major
    effort.

    Anyway, who would want a car that can only be maintained by a legitimate dealer with access to ownership records.

    my friends and I tried to see what the car will do if I left the car on. Well, he drove off about a block or so and it didn't do anything. I know the door won't lock if you leave it on. It seems scary but why would you leave your car on anyways? It electric baby.

    I've heard of one instance, but's it's one of those "heard it from somewhere and don't know who it happened to or where" stories. Someone left their fob on their table at a nightclub. Someone grabbed the fob and kept pressing the button until a car beeped.

    i was thinking about this as well...it seems like we are pretty safe, unless you valet and hand your keys over the most people can do is smash a window if you leave things of value in eyes view.
