Anyone knows if the 2015 models will have the Lithium bat vice the NiMH? Can save $2000 on a 2014 model or wait for 2015, is the cost savings worth it?
The 2015 Prius is basically the same as the 2014. Only the Plug-in has lithium. It has been announced that there will be a lithium option in the 2016 Prius (Gen4 late in 2015). JeffD
The 2015's out now are still Gen 3, the 4th Gen is not scheduled to be on the market until Dec 2015--- as I understand it. However, the 2015 Gen 3 has been out since 2010 and SHOULD have all the bugs refined out of it now. I am hoping my 2014 will prove to be a super reliable little car, as I plan to keep this one.
2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid: Sportier, But Facing New Competition "Showing Toyota's inherent conservatism, the new Prius will stick with a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack for the base model--expected to be rated at 55 mpg combined by the EPA--but will offer an optional lithium-ion battery pack for an Eco model that could be rated as high as 60 mpg combined." I wonder what is the cost to buy a 5MPG gain. You really do not save much when you are starting at 55 MPG.
Thanks to everyone who replied!!! The 2015s are due in Hawaii in DEC. I will of course go with the 2014 and save two grand in the process.
