I've just learned that I will be moving from Maryland to Arizona in a few months for my job. I'm trying to make sure I don't forget to do anything important along the way. The car will be shipped, not driven across country. Besides the following, is there anything I need to do for my Prius (or my other car)? 1. Vehicle Registration 2. Change Nav location (home address, region) 3. Tint windows (probably not immediately) 4. Buy windshield sun shades from PC store (immediately)
Some drivers keep a pair of light cotton gloves in their cars. Just in case the steering wheel gets super-heated. You'll need major-league dark sunglasses. Tell the optometrist you want the darkest, UVA and B blocking, lenses they can make. Hats. Water. Sunblock. Clothing that breathes, with long sleeves and pants legs. Keep an emergency supply of rations and water in the car. Safety kit, blanket, first aid kit. (Actually, we should all do this.) Enjoy! Desert living can be great - just ask my nephew. He and his wife moved to Barstow, CA. They got all excited, sent out pictures of snow last month.
Buy PriusHood for MFD- you will have alot of sun on AZ. She sells them on Ebay and is also a Prius Chat sponsor.
I forgot- always keep water in the car- I put it in the cup holder behind the front seat (on the console for the people in the back seat). And as Spunky said- hats- always fun to change hats.
Swiss army knife with tweezers attached to your keys to be able to pull cactus thorns out of skin. Stay away from jumping (leaping) choilla cacti.
As for the gloves, try using a cloth steering wheel cover instead, works great (this comes from having lived in the middle of the Mojave desert where during the summer the average temp was about 105).
