One a more serious side, if you have not driving a huge vehicle like a F-250, it will give you a new appreciation of driving a moderately-sized vehicle like a Prius.
I've seen similar, at the head of a flight of stairs, in Vancouver's airport. To be fair, in particular at night, stuff happens. Maybe thought it was a laneway? The drop there looks to be enough to warrant a handrail. As-is, it's irresponsible design.
