WeatherTech or HuskyLiner Mats?

WEATHERTECH are the only mats I have owned. I like them. I leave mine in year round.

 

Im debating both of these mats and I am right now leaning towards the weathertech mats. They are a bit more but I think they are a little better quality. Does anyone know where the husky mats are made?

 

Don't know about the Husky mats but WEATHERTECH is made at Bolingbrook, Illinois, near where I live.

 

I'm going to go with the weathertech ones due to the mostly positive reviews on them. Will give an update whenever I get them and get a chance to test them out, though it might not be till wintertime, where the salt/snow will really put it to the test.

I am still saving my money for a few upgrades and floor mats are on my list, I recently stumbled upon a different brad of floormats that I was curious if anyone here has seen before. They are the Maxliners. Heres a link to them on amazon.

 

I just found this post and was wondering a probably dumb question:
Do "liners" take the place of mats, or do they go under mats?
I want to protect the floors of my V and am considering the deep liner type inserts from either Weathertech or Husky.

 

Liners is part of the manufacturers name huskyliner and maxliner are the companies that make replacement floor mats. And yes they do replace the factory oem floor mats.

 

The reason I ask is that both companies sell "mats" as well as larger "liners." I just wanted to make sure if I bought the liners I don't need to keep my current mats on top of the liners or if the liners stand alone.

Funny you should ask. So I am a Weathertech fan in general. Having said that I did a bit of my own taste test. We bought the Husky front and rear mats and I bought the Weathertech cargo mat.

I will be replacing the Husky mats with Weathertech mats here shorty. The Husky mats don't hold there form around the edges, they get "wavy". The Husky mats are already starting to show considerable wear but more of a discoloration and not holding the new Gray color but getting dull and changing a bit.

For the few extra bucks I think Weathertech is well worth it.

Toyota ABSOLUTELY does not recommend layering mats or liners.

I own the weathertech liners. And they are of great enough quality and design that there is no reason to have them coupled with anything else. IMO it can be dangerous to do so, from a slippage standpoint.

The liners are designed to fit perfectly. The drivers side work with the built in mat locks.

I find the light colored weathertech liners difficult to keep looking clean. BUT...they are designed to be a stand alone product, and they DO protect well.

My only advice or my only admission is I think if I was purchasing over again, I might not get the light gray color. To keep them looking clean, I spend a lot of time cleaning them.

I went with the Husky Weatherbeater liners on our 2011 Gen 3 Prius. I've been happy with them and wouldn't pay the additional $$ for the WeatherTechs. They clean up well and I haven't noticed any discoloration or undue wear on the beige color after three years of Minnesota winters.

I ended up getting a set of open box huskyliners off amazon (I saved $30). I also have a weathertech rear cargo liner. The material and build quality of both feel about the same. For the floor liners I chose the huskyliners over the weathertechs for 2 reasons, more coverage (specifically on the drivers side it goes up the firewall further) and I got them for about $100 less than the weathertechs. Overall I am very happy with them so far.

 

I am planning on buying Weathertech front and rear liners (in black), and the cargo liner (in grey). It looks like the Prius has the same dark-grey passenger carpet and light grey cargo carpet (that matches the headliner) regardless of interior color choice (based on all the images on Toyota's configurator). I think it should match quite nicely.
