Servo-like noise when opening door

Yes, the Prius has a hydraulic brake booster and it looses pressure in just a few hours of down time. It pressures up when the -drivers- door is opened, as the car gets ready for you to drive. It doesn't do that when the passenger or rear doors including the hatch are opened. Some cars hold the pressure longer, some shorter. Pearl held it overnight, Pearl S not so much. A few hours and it runs the pump when the drivers door is opened.

 

It's your car's way of saying "hello." . at least that is what the dealer told me

 

i climb in from the passenger side to avoid that.

 

It's still going to do it when you power on the car though.

I was idly wondering the other day, if I snuck in the passenger side, climbed over the buttress (THAT'S why it's there) and powered up the car, would the brakes be messed up? Xliderider's ruined my fun.

 

i thought i was getting away with something...

 

Repeat after me: "My car is smarter than I, my car is smarter than I".

 

Also realize your car will make a buzzing noise about 8-10 hours after driving it too. Something to do with the fuel evaporative system.

 

It is the digital equivalent of a stretch and a yawn.

 

I thought it was just purring at me.

 

You will find an explanation in the owners manual, if you have the patience to hunt it down.
In fact, I will say it again. And I "paraphrase".
-Any sound the Prius makes at any time is normal.- Which is what you come away with after -fully- reading the manual.

 

My UK PiP also 'breaks wind' some minutes after turning the power off.

 

... and that's why incompetent is a generous evaluation of those that work at the stealership.
