Looking at snow tire/rim options and was wondering if 14" steel rims would fit on our C. I would like the added sidewall height of a 14. Was also wondering if there is an interchange chart showing what other vehicles have the same bolt pattern (4x100), offset (40 mm) and center bore size (54.7 mm).
I asked the same question of Ryephile back when he was modifying his C. I trust his judgement on this. cAstro my Prius c: Project thread | Page 2 | PriusChat
I run 185 X 65 X 15 Bridgestone Blizzak on my 2012 C4. I don't understand why anyone would drop down to a 14 inch wheel for snow tires.
A narrower tire (175/70/14) cuts through the snow better. Plus the higher sidewall smooths the ride on bad roads.
I want to run the Blizzak tire and I just found out that they don't make one in the 175/70-14 size. On the flip side, I have been able to find 14 inch steel aftermarket rims that fit, but no 15s.
I'm running 14" steelies from tirerack with some Pirelli winter carving edge tires. They worked great and cost me no noticeable MPG last winter. My only complaint was that they were a lot noisier than the General Altimax Arctic I run on my Wife's Venza. Chris
Ended up with 175/65-15 Michelin X-ice XI3 tires mounted on R81 Mini Cooper alloy wheels with Toyota tpms sensors. So far no noise or handling difference. They do pick up rocks on gravel roads though.
Re-opening an old topic, 14 inch wheels. I just installed my winter wheels from my previous car(Scion iQ), they were originally off of a mid 2000 Honda Civic. I decided to test their fit on the Prius, hopeful to save my self some money. So here it is, 185/70/R14 CB:56.1 I do understand that these are a bit taller than recommended, so the speedometer will be off by a bit. But they will get me through this winter at least.
Hey there. Did you ever run into any issues with these? It looks like they are only slightly taller than stock.
FYI I just installed 14" rims with 185/70r/14 with Xice3 tires on a 2013 Prius C and everything fits fine.
No rubbing, no noticeable change in fuel economy, everything seems to fit fine. I'm happy overall with these. 17 hour Roadtrip (one way) coming up soon looking forward to seeing how economy and rid quality is for long distance.
