Fred, you must be shocked at people who use cruise control as well. I think that you will find that those of us that use neutral as a part of our driving are very active drivers. I am more involved in my driving now than I used to be.

On my way in this morning, in a moment of inspiration I balled up my sweatshirt and stuffed it under my right thigh. Made a big difference!

There's a kickass industrial foam place not too far from where I work. I think I'll have to pay them a visit with an eye on solving this problem. I'm thinking maybe I can fabricate some sort seat cushion with a nice, fat wedge-shaped bolster to provide better thigh support.

:( As usual, when I have an issue, I search and find. This topic began a year ago and has not had recent activity. I find my right shin hurts after driving over about 45 minutes. I saw previously some people have devised cushions. Any comments about what has worked best.

    Thanks,

    Oregon Mica

Could you folks who have installed thigh support pillows say where you got them?

I know exactly what you mean. I have a minor problem in my right knee due to an old car accident. In any case just being able to move my chair just a little back... has always been in my mind. And in addition... I HEAR YOU, driving a Prius the best way requires your foot to be somewhat lifted up..

maybe we could device a mod. for moving the seat a little more back. lol
atleast now i know its not only my problem.

b mode, c-control, and some down hill is all we have for now...

Doesn't sound like this is the source of the problem but thought I'd mention it as some guys like to keep their wallets in a rear pocket.

Remember to avoid sitting on your wallet for long periods of time.

    Really.

I take good care of my husband. For instance, I insist he remove his wallet and hand it to me. Just to hold while he drives, honest! Besides, he's learned to check for the credit cards whenever I hand his wallet back.

Yes the seats suck at thigh support. I'm 6'3" and added an extra cushion to fill in the bottom of the seat (too narrow on the flat part) and added thigh support. Again, I'd bet money these were Japanese ergonomics on these seats and steering wheel.
Also, adding one or two washers under the front seat mounting bolts helps, but raises the whole seat some. Be sure to use longer metric bolts to maintain bolt hold down strength.

Wow.... I think for the first time in history, I'm HAPPY to be short! (5'2")

    :p

I also use a ton of cruise control in the Prius (hwy and non-hwy). I've found it's just as efficient as me, often getting better MPG than me.

So no leg pain here. But then, all I've got are these these little stubs I call legs...

I had a terrible time with my hambstring where it inserts in the buttocks. I went to an orthopedist who prescribed physical therapy and told me to quit running (I run a lot). I quit running for 8 weeks and did the darn therapy. Then I read a similar thread to this one discussing pain associated with the wonderful Prius seats. The one poster said he bought a memory foam pillow which helped a lot. I went out that very night and bought one and put it under me on the way home from the store. I got immediate relief. Considering I have an 80 mile a day round trip commute, I'm sitting a lot. Because I run so much, I don't have, nor have I never had, must padding back there. I ended up buying a seat cushion for the car that has heat and vibrates in various controllable locations. I'm back to running pain free, although when I sit for any length of time, I still get some pain if the surface isn't padded, but I've always suffered like that a bit. The Prius just made it worse. :p
