Thanks for the video Looks like cutting that internal mic is my only option. btw, what's the link you used to purchase your unit? Maybe in the future I can check if he/she is willing to sell me a new mic module.

If I were to do it again, I think I would use a potentiometer as suggested by the OP. Or maybe look for a lower noise level 30mm fan on ebay. My 40mm one is 14db/A and I barely notice the noise. Maybe you can give this 30mm with 15db/A+/-10% a try: 2pin 30mm Brushless Mini Cooling Fan 3010s 30x10mm DC 12V 2 Wire Heatsink | eBay .

 

I took a different way than chickenhawk. When I did mine, I broke a tab when removing one of the rear trim. Fixed it by super gluing. There was also a dead screw but luckily I was able to slip in the camera and mount it. Removing the trims was a real PITA. It took me 3 hours w/o any trim tools lol. I had my camera power attached to the radio power instead so I get constant power. I also have a Y split adapter going to rear view and AV in so I can turn on rear view any time with this HU.

 

Can someone tell me the part number/ model number of the radio in the 2014 prius and the 2012 prius.....are they EXACTLY the same? Our new 2014 prius radio went out after 3 months suspiciously after picking car up from dealer after its 5000 mile service. They claimed impossibly related to the service. They replaced with refurbished 2012 radio (which warranty allows refurbished parts). The technology seems like it would be different...and upon backing up, now are screen is half black and half 7 what radio station we are listening to. Any insight would be appreciated. It does say 3.1.0. I dont know what it used to say with 2014 radio.

Nice idea! Do you believe placement you have it in is as good as where the stock mic placement? My cable wasn't long enough so I ended up putting it right above the AC vents on the dash but looks kind of ghetto. I might take your approach if you recommend it.

I just bought another mic on eBay - Alpine CDE 136BT CDE136BT Bluetooth Microphone Pay Today Ships Today | eBay for $10.50 and will try mounting it somewhere else.

Right now, I am trying to get the backup cam installed "Camera Fail Init Alarm" Not sure what that is about. Any suggests are welcomed!

 

I grounded to white and for power I attached directly to the red/blue on the bulb but not the red wire that connects to this.

On the head unit, I just plugged into the yellow RCA cable called cam directly.

Was I missing anything?

 

When your camera failed, did the HU go straight to the Android home screen? Mine doesn't even try to cut to the backup camera. I don't see the camera fail message until the unit has already booted.

 

Sorry for the dumb question but where do I locate the rev signal wire from the HU and then positive wire of the rev of the bulb? Wouldn't they be at the two different sides of the car.
