My wife made fun of me today for practicing the trick involved in folding a large sunscreen. You have me beat by a mile.
When I close my hood or any of my customer's hood, I always bring it down till the safety latch hooks, then I push the hood down.....I do th s cause I never want that 1 customer that's very picky if Te hood slams......better safe than sorry.
but your creating a wave in the paint. sure they can't see it now, so they won't blame you when it appears, but wouldn't it be kinder of you to drop it drom on high and save them a repaint down the road?
I have yet to see a 'wave' on a Prius in the wild, but I'm curious: what pressure would be required to make one, and how much force is required to shut the hood? The latter can be calculated courtesy of our friend who has found the perfect height to drop the hood.
Such attention to detail. I didn't let go of the latch, I was working with only 1 hand, so my middle finger was still there.
I think that the next time somebody asks me about Priuses and oil consumption, I will direct them to this thread.
I've read this thread numerous time s now and I'm very very confused ..... I'm never ever going to open my hood / bonnet again
