When there is any degree of bass in my sound system (JBL), the driver's side door vibrates or rattles. If I push against the handle with the controls on it very hard, I can dampen the sound to where it's (almost) nonexistent. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this without bringing it to Toyota?
It could be that the speaker has been over driven, i.e. excessively high volume, however, since pressure on the door reduces the rattle it might pay to take the door apart to look for loose screws, bolts etc.
Actually there might be a Hayes by now, but if you search this site you might find someone's done it before
Mine does the same thing. But then again my floating console also creaks and pops as well. It's almost like plastic vibrating on the metal inside the door though when heavy bass drops
If you're feeling mildly adventurous, pull the door panel and go in there with some foam. There is a screw in the bottom of the handle grip (the little rubber cover in the bottom pops out) and one behind a cover for the release handle. Pull off the switch trim, the master switch, and pull from the bottom and it'll come up and off. There are some photos on the shop's PiP I just took for you of the bolt locations and trim removal. It isn't that hard at all.
