Do I really need a Inverter Coolant change?

    My notes were re: inverter coolant change.
    At the dealership I went, it was an intricate, time consuming operation!
    Had to justify the high cost somehow.

    When I took my first car in for service 45 years, ago, I had to redo nearly half of everything that was supposed to be fixed.

    Sure, I've made plenty of mistakes over the years. But all of them were learning experiences. You learn from mistakes, NOT successes.

    I bought the UV Air Lift system mentioned in Art's Garage article and coolant for less than the cost of a dealership's converter coolant change.

    Now and for the rest of every car I will own, I can do the change for an hour of my time and just for the price of the coolant. You spent more than an hour going t the dealer to have it changed.

    Working for $15 an hour to pay someone else $100 and hour for something you can do yourself is a certain path to lightening you pocketbook.

    Fifine, I just changed my inverter coolant. Super simple with a Lisle Funnel. PM me if you want some help DIYing the inverter coolant or transaxle fluid.

    Yeah, I have the Lisle funnel, too.

    But the UView Air Lift is more elegant.

    Our condo association & its rules do not allow any car repair type work on the premises so I had an indie mechanic do most of the fluid changes. The inverter coolant was replaced at the dealership, for convenience, while the car had the inverter pump recall.
    I sneaked in the less "visual" DYI maintenance like filter changes, MAF and throttle body cleaning.

    I think the security guards time how long the hood is left open!!!

    No problem. Next time, you could come by my place to do the work if you wanted. Technically, my HOA doesn't allow it but I've never had any complaints. Something as simple as lifting, unbolting and filling is in a very DIY territory.

    I am wondering if any one there who modified their Prius around 2008 maybe later with a A123 plug in system. I would like to know how the systems are doing. Mine is doing fine.
