I did my first oil change on an 06. Expecting to need to adjust the oil level I left the oil filler cap off while running the ICE to circulate the oil and fill the filter. While it was running I noticed a lot of gas (not gasoline) blowing out of the oil filler opening. I mean a LOT, more than I have ever seen coming out of a 200k mi V-8. Has anyone noticed tis on their Prius?
Yes my result is the same in 2001 Prius. I tested this in response to a similar post on greenhybrid. Was that you? Anyway, I offer no explanation of this situation.
most of the fine mist thrown out the oil filler cap when it's off is coming off the timing chain as it's rotating
