I want to get Tint ASAP. I know this car has more windows then any car I had in the past ,So I wanna know what did you guys pay to get your car tinted so I know whats a good price and what isnt .Thanks? Oh yea post a pic if you have one tinted thanks again!
I was going to tint but, thought I would not get as much radiant heat in the winter and need more heat thus burning more gas?? Any thoughts??
$229 for all windows and add another $100+ for windshield thats crazy !! How is just windshield worth $119 ????
Check your state laws to make sure they allow tinting front side windows. In New Jersey they don't and I didn't know until I got nailed by a cop at a "safety checkpoint". My dealer offered it on their website and I guess the burden is on the buyer to know what the law is, apparently dealers are allowed to sell illegally tinted windows. My car was done through a 3rd party tinter so I wasn't informed about the tint laws by them. Because of this gaffe, my dealer agreed to redo the front side windows, replacing the dark tint with the lightest tint available, allowing cops to see into the front of the cabin. It was the alternative to periodically paying a fine. Just don't want you to repeat my experience.
I got all my windows minus the windshield for $150. Mobile guy. It doesn't hurt that I've know the guy for 15+ years.
The front windshield is a large piece of glass with compound curves. It's pretty difficult to tint entirely with film. He wasn't quoting a price for a strip along the top couple of inches. SCH-I535
I feel any cost savings from additional "radiant heat" would be eaten up manyfold by the additional thermal loads in the summertime. Then again, I prefer a cool car and keep my a/c around 70-72°F in the summer and heat usually around 66-68°F in the winter. YMMV.
Clarification: Full/entire windshield tinted. Yes the full front windshield is worth it. Its a lot of area for sun to come through.
Here in Texas you can't tint the front windshield. (I would think this would make it difficult to see at night). Also the tint can only be so dark. Most places check this at the annual state inspection. Depending on what part of the state you are driving in the cops will pull you over and give you a ticket if it is to dark. I had it done at the dealer for $300 as dark as the law would allow.
I'm aware of the tint laws and if I got legal tint it wouldn't even be worth getting tint at all. With that said I have been pulled over, been in check points and never once been told anything about my tint. I usually get 20% tint. They have to have the device that measures tint and around here usually only highway patrol has that device. Cop cars around here all have check engine lights and poor budgets I don't see them spending money on Tint devices anytime soon
You can't in Florida either without a prescription from an doctor. I don't have a prescription but you can't tell anyway. Better quality tints can doe their job without the darkening effect. Llumar Air Blue 80 is one of those tints. You can't even tell the car has tint on it.
Keep in mind that the % light transmissivity has nothing to do with the amount of heat, UV, and IR rejection.
