I have now had my PiP for two weeks and I am still trying to find my way around it. I ordered the Protection Pack and the blurb said that I would get a rubber mat for the boot (got it) but more importantly factory-fitted rear parking sensors. I am becoming convinced that I have not had the sensors fitted before delivery. I was fooled at first by the beeping when in reverse but as I have got more confident about reversing using the camera I have become aware that no sensor-like noises seem to be happening. I have looked at the bumper and can see no evidence of sensors. Does anyone else have experience of the Protection Pack. This is a company car so I will have to go through the leasing company to get things sorted out so I really need to be sure of my facts before I start to complain. Is there any possibility that the reversing beep is conflicting with the sensor beeps?
Maybe this won't help you but I'll try. I have a 2014 Avalon Hybrid XLE Touring. It has rear cross traffic alert. It has radar under the rear bumper at both ends. When the car is put in Reverse and vehicles are crossing behind the car I will get beeping sounds and yellow flashes in both outside mirrors. I have blind spot monitors in both outside mirrors as well.
I have the protection pack on my PiP. The rear bumper has four sensors fitted and colour coded to the car (pearl white). The reversing was adjusted to give one beep when selected (without me asking) and is then silent until I get near something it then beeps repeatedly until I get very close when there is a continuous sound. It looks like they missed it and just threw in the boot protector.
Thanks for the description Ian. I could not see any sensors on the rear bumper so I went along to my local Toyota dealer this afternoon. They confirmed that the sensors have not been fitted - oops. Now the fun starts as the supplying dealer of the car is 300 miles distant from where I live so I guess they will have to get the local dealer to fit the sensors and then back-charge for the work.
NEWS UPDATE: The latest on the lack of parking sensors is that the far-away dealer has agreed to them being fitted by my local Toyota outlet and their being a back-charge between them. All should be done by the end of the month and I have to say that the original dealer could not have been more apologetic about the oversight. Their remorse was demonstrated by the arrival of a bottle of champagne in the post a couple of days ago!!!
