...but I can't get the plastic cover off. I've looked at the Youtube videos, and they mostly say to turn the plastic cover. Mine does not budge. The Lusciousgarage one shows the mechanic doing something invisible with a screwdriver - appears to be popping something loose. Does anyone know what she did? Is it something I need to be doing too? Is the cover on the Touring edition any different than the non-Touring? Also, some of the videos show folks removing the bumper. Not entirely sure how this will help get that cover off (besides giving my hand more space). I am about to give up and pay someone to do this (d'oh).
I had the same problem, the damn thing would not budge. I removed the bumper cover and pushed it downward leaving the lower cover intact. The Headlamp buckets came out easy enough, and then I used WD-40 to "loosen" the very tight jar style lid. I found that the left was tighter than the right ( possibly Godzilla at the headlamp assembly ). Don't be afraid, it will come off. The bulb is still buried under a cover plug inside of the big headlamp assembly. Beware of the "hidden" 10 mm head bolt on both sides of the bumper cover. Get a good light source, you will need it. On my car, I buffed both headlamp assemblies after replacing the HID bulbs, ten years after purchasing my Prius. This car has been the best vehicle ever. It just keeps on going. If it ever needs anything, I will fix it, replace it or buy new. It does what it says it will do, better than most and a whole lot better than the worst. And besides, it paid for. Here's hoping you fix your HID bulbs.
