i am considering trading up my new Prius c One for a Prius v (2, 3 or 5). but the weight would be a change from 2,500# to 3,300#. thats a LOT of yearly extra weight tax, and needs much bigger tires etc.,,, maybe they have a svelte version?
The C is the baby. The V is the glutten. There is bound to be a large weight difference. Just fill the interior with helium before you go weigh in
For a vehicle that has the cargo room that the "v" has, it beats everything else as far as "miles per gallon" in it's class. The Ford C-Max has less cargo room and advertised on how it got mare mpg than the "v." It turned out that their claims "were NOT true."
Everytime I park next to the thousands of SUVs around here, it is easy to tell the Prius v takes after Grandma Corolla and not Grandpa Tundra.
I drove all three of the Prius versions before I bought my c, and there's such a difference between the c and the v that I wonder how you decided on the c in the first place?
The Cmax is closer in size to the regular Prius. not the v it does have much more interior space than the regular prius larger engine and heavier, but is much more refined in ride, comfort and interior quality. but mileage not as good. When I had to replace my 2010 Prius I looked at the V and the cmax, and ended up on the cmax. Been very happy, even with the milage hit over a standard prius, I'm still happy. hard to say if i would have been as happy with the v. For me a car has become more of a utensil, comparable to a knife and a fork... So in all likelyhood i woudd have been fine with the v, but they do pull a premium...even used...
Looking up a sample county, I'm seeing a difference of $14/year in state weight tax, and $10/year in county weight tax. Is that really a LOT?
