98k miles and if the car is on a slight incline and your backing up or creeping forward it feels like you are going over a rumble strip. that slight studdering feeling. no codes have tripped. ive asked the toyota dealership and they dont know what could be the problem. the transaxel fluid was changed at 88k and from what i was told there were no metal shavings in the fluid. it was a little dark but after going 88k miles i assume it would be. any insite would be helpful.
My 2007 has done that since new. I notice it most when pulling up the driveway and into the garage. I'm pretty sure it's just a characteristic of electric motors--their operation, under load, is much less-smooth at low speeds. I've noticed other electric motors that produce similar shudder when under load at low speed.
Same here. I bought my Prius used. It's at 55k miles. 2006 and whenever the electric motor starts or turns off, the car does studder a little. I don't think it is nothing to be concerned about unless this studder is like driving over a speed bump.
That is normal when the engine kicks on and off. I'm talking about vibration from the electric only motor. The ICE is not running when this happens
This is normal for an AC motor running at low speed (which both MG1 and MG2 are). The moving part (rotor) is trying to follow the rotating magnetic field generated by currents coming from the Inverter.
