I learned it is possible to monitor the condition of the 12 volt battery by evaluating its voltage under electrical load when in the battery diagnostic mode. My research on this subject said. - To enter the diagnostic mode put the ignition system in the READY mode, Press and hold the SETUP BUTTON while turning the headlight switch on and off 3 times. My question is - Where is the SETUP BUTTON.? Is the answer to use the DISPLAY BUTTON to select the setup screen display on the monitor. When the setup option screen is shown then press and hold the DISPLAY BUTTON while turning the headlight switch on and off 3 times? Has any reader of this thread entered the 2012 Prius C diagnostic mode. Please reply and describe the switch to hold while turning the headlight switch on and off 3 times! Where is this switch located. THANKS...
I am new in this forum. I do not know how to create a new post or I do not have permission to start one. Sorry to revive this thread beforehand. I have a 2014 Prius C. I am getting "shift to p position when parked ". I was reading somewhere that it has to do with 12v battery getting old. I thought I would check the diagnostics about the voltage. But how do I get the diagnostics? My prius C does not have 'CAR' button nor POWER button. Please help..
That method has proved to be somewhat confusing and unreliable. A $10 multi-meter is a better tool for the task. OR if the battery still is the original and 6-7 years old, just replace it.
