Has anyone used the portable XM radio from Sirius? I am thinking of getting one that can be switched between our two cars and could also be used when we go camping in our tent trailer.

um. I assume you mean the Delphi Skyfi? I have the boombox and the car kit, and it works perfect. Nothing's cooler than having the boombox out at the beach (bring 6 C batteries!), and the car kit for it, while not as good as the integrated xm stereo kits (see priusxm.com and coastaletech.com), they deliver just fine. If you can't afford the $400-500 for the integrated XM, but can afford the $60 car kit, you should realize that there is of course a noticable difference in quality (the car kit runs off the cassette). Otherwise though, same XM channels, same service.

And FYI, Sirius is another satellite radio company, which means they don't make any XM units (just as XM doesn't make sirius units). Hope this helps!

Thanks. I got my satellite and hardware companies confused.

I had the SkyFi XM radio in my Prius before switching to the intergraded XM receiver. Both have worked great. I made a little aluminum bracket for the SkyFi that mounted to the console. If you remove the cupholders (by pulling up on the front of the console) you will see a flat area above the slide out drawer that makes a great mounting spot. Only 4 holes for the entire installation, all of which are hidden if you decide to remove it later. I used the FM modulator and mounted it below the radio with double sided tape. I'll try and post a picture if you are interested and I can figure out how to do it!

Evan (efusco) has the XM Commander mounted in the cubby below the stereo, also. Pics are in the Photo Album.

    Delphi XM Roady

I just had the Deplhi XM Roady installed in my car and I love it. I really wanted the integrated unit, but this ends up working better for me with the Roady being portable and there were a lot of good deals with it. It costs about $119 and comes with a car kit, and you can send in for the home kit (which will take 8-10 weeks but its free!). So it ends up working out really well for me. I even combined the XM subscription with the Family Plan, as we have XM on a different car and my service is only $6.99. Very satisfied with Circuit City's install, they did a great job and the wires are not the least bit annoying, they tucked them away well. Worth the $35 for the install.

Can you take a picture of where they put the antenna?

Also, where did they mount the receiver?

    thank you
