I have a 2006 Prius and my wife has a 2005. I had no problem adding phone numbers to my phone directory in the 2006 -- there is a "register" button to add numbers manually. But in my wife's car I am having trouble learning how to add numbers. The manual doesn't help much -- the only instruction is on adding numbers from the call log. Is there a way to add numbers to the phone directory in the 2005 Prius, if the number has neither been called or a been a caller to the registered mobile phone? The 2005 BT won't let you enter manually, you have to send the numbers from the phone to the phonebook. If your carrier is Verizon, then you're basically out of luck, although you can use a laptop with BT to send the numbers. There's a workaround, if there isn't that many numbers. You can enter numbers manually in the POI area of the NAV system. If you need to make a call, you have to touch DEST, then MEMORY, then the name of the place or person. There's an INFO icon there. Touch that and you'll see a green phone icon. Touch that and it will dial. A bit long, but it works. Oh, and you'll have to do the NAV manual override as well, but that's a one time thing each trip.
When will a toyota upgrade its software to allow manual insertion of Verizon telephone book? A workaround is a temporary solution. It shouldn't be that difficult to add a button to manually insert and save telephone numbers. If Toyota needs to validate this customer requirement, I'd be happy to provide them insight.
