I just put a new set of Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires (195/65R15) on my 2010 Prius. I've been reading a little about tire pressures here, and just wanted to double check. No need to chatter my teeth in the quest for top mpg, but saving fuel is what the Prius is about. Sounds like the most popular pressures (set cold) are: 40/38, 42/40, and 44/42. Do I have that spread about right? Thanks....Lyle
I am on my second set of Energy Saver AS tires, 195x65x15, on our 2010 Prius. I keep all tires at max sidewall pressure listed on the side of the tire which is 44 PSI. We got nearly 70,000 miles on the first set, they are rated at 65,000, and the second set is well over 20,000 miles or so and of course wearing perfectly even. Current construction of tires today will not wear out the center if you inflate to max sidewall pressure. This may have been true with tire construction 30 years or more but not today in my opinion. Also the Michelin Energy Saver AS tire is the most fuel efficient tire you can purchase anywhere in the U.S. if someone knows of a more fuel efficient tire please let us all know, that may very well be my next tire. The mpg increase I obtained is 2-3 mpg more with Energy Saver tires, conservative estimate, over current fuel efficient tires.
I am about to trade in my OE Yokohama Avid S33d after 51k miles and almost 5 years ... I'm thinking of replacing them with Michelin Energy Savers All Seasons ...
I replaced the same factory tires with the Energy Saver AS, a true 2-3 mpg increase, and never looked back....
