For the low price of the harness, I like your method.

What did you do with the the cables that came with the harness? Looks like there were RCA and Aux cables that came with it.

 

I connected the RCA cable to the aux input on the head unit. This allowed factory center console aux input to work. The black connector goes to another device so I removed it. I also took pin24 and repin it to pin2 for reverse camera.

 

Gotcha and I noticed in your photo you had 4 other cables (other than the pin 2) in addition to the 3 for the steering wheel. What were those for?

 

Those pins are for AUX. It came like this so no need to touch them.

What did you end up doing for your antenna since that didn't fit?

 

I bought this adapter Antenna Adapter for 2012 2013 2014 Toyota Corolla Prius C V Avalon Highlander | eBay . Only FM is working for me. Not sure why I can't get signal for AM.

 

Great, I bought both items and will try again at this next week. Now that you've helped me grasp this I feel much better! A few other questions

1. The OP said the backup camera was grainy, I am not sure it is worth the challenge to install or not. What was your experience?

2. What did you end up using for maps? I tried to Waze but Google Apps said it wasn't compatibility. I installed the app that came on the SD but it was in Chinese. Lastly, anytime I select the GPS icon on the home screen I get a message that there isn't an app. What was your experience?

 

Did yours default to Chinese?

 

1. Same as OP. Only grainy at night. Not bad in day time.
2. I use Waze only. You can download the apk from somewhere else instead of google playstore. Not sure about the GPS icon problem. My unit came preloaded with Sygic and it's not in Chinese.

 

I did, perhaps I can mess around with the options and get it back to English!

 

Wow I noticed that fan is fairly loud. Did you have any luck replacing it with a quieter one?

 

I received the cable to make L149 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! but I noticed there were about 11 cables plugged into it where yours had 8. Did you just remove the additional cables from the 28 pin?

The reason I ask is even when adding the brown cables in the pins you showed, the steering wheel controls still didn't work :-(

Trip didn't work but my maintenance light was on so it wouldn't have worked anyways. Let me clear the light and try again.
