Does an Extended Warranty Look Better Upside Down ?

    For all you folks who bought a new Prius, I'd like to understand a little better how finances affects our decision whether to buy an extended warranty. Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey. If you would prefer privacy then by all means send your completed survey to my PM. Any identifying information including alias names will be erased. I'll report the results in aggregate to the community, and if enough responses are received I'll get my visiting daughter to perform a regression analysis.

    2. If yes, rolled into loan or bought later ?

    C. Gap insurance purchased ?

    D. Do you carry credit card debt ?

    E. Was the monthly payment amount an important consideration in whether to buy the car ?

    A. About 1/2 cash down, 1/2 financed
    B. 36 months
    C. No, not needed when 1/2 paid with cash down
    D. We buy everything with our credit cards for rewards points but I've never paid credit card interest in my life
    E. Yes, it factored in deciding what options because we wanted to keep the term to 36 months and the payments below a certain dollars/month, although we pay extra each month by paying slightly more than 1/2 of the monthly payment every two weeks to coincide with payday
