I recently acquired a 2008 Prius and would like to repair some cosmetic defects inside the vehicle. I do not know much about cars, so bare with my terrible terminology! My first project is to repair some scratches inside the trunk. They were made by a metal cage being shoved into the trunk. I will upload some pictures! What I would like to know is: Is there a way to 'buffer' them out? or make them nearly unnoticeable? if not, where and what would I look up to order the 'side panel'? do you know of any instructions on how to replace it? (it doesn't seem to hard, I could probably figure it out). and finally, there is a 2006 prius in the junkyard I've seen, it has perfect interior, would the same parts be compatible with a 2008?
Get parts from a wrecking yard? New parts you likely don't want to know the price, just guessing. Live with it?
Get the parts from the wrecking yard. The parts are made of polypropylene. It is a light impact and temperature resistant plastic. It's lightweight and actually floats in water. It, however, scratches easily. If it is a wear surface, forget about painting polypropylene. It will fake and easily scratch again. It will look even uglier.
The 2006 interior should be identical. If those scuffs really bother you then you should be more concerned about getting the top of the rear bumper cover covered with film or a rubber strip. Personally, I think stripping two interiors & installing one is more work than it is worth but it isn't my car. How are you going to feel when they are your scratches?
I won't scratch the car! >=] I am working on interior first, exterior is next! Quite a bit of cosmetic things to fix on the car =[
