I can be a frugal (some might say cheap) person. It's one of the reasons I bought my Prius. I love to find a good deal on Amazon or eBay. I looked and looked at seat covers and would find a set I liked at a good price and find out they're not side airbag compatible or wouldn't work with the seat belts in the Prius. I also didn't want to shell out $400 for a custom set. I found out the CoverKing was doing a discount line called MODA. They use similar fabric to their full-feature line, but cut costs by eliminating things like seat back pockets (my kids have torn those before). They sell on various websites, but the best price I found was on WalMart.com. For $99 a row you get a PIN that you enter on the CoverKing website for a row of seat covers in their Neotex fabric (Neoprene-like, but not water proof). I think that $200 for a custom set of seat covers is pretty good. I opted for red and black in hopes of spicing up the interior. I figured there is enough black in the car for this to be okay and have been adding other elements like black floor mats.

The ordering process was pretty straight forward as there is only one option per row. I ordered both sets the afternoon of July 18th and received the rear covers today, July 2nd. The fronts shipped today, so not a super speedy process. We had great weather today so I did the install after work. I popped the back seat bottom out and the install took maybe 30-45 minutes. The fit is very good and every function of the seat is open and accessible and had trim sewn around each cutout. My only complaint is that there is nothing that covers the fabric on the pillars that are part of the seat. I will address it with CoverKing, but I think I could probably get some black fabric and cover them if it bothers me too much. I dig the color and wish I had the front covers. I will post an update once I get those installed, but I wanted to share in case this was a limited offer. I also noticed they carry a card with PIN at the store by the seat covers if you prefer not to buy online. I will attach pics and here is the link to buy them.

I contacted CoverKing and it turns out there should be covering for the pillars (bolsters). The have ordered some for me to be sent out. I got a surprise at work this morning and my front seat covers had arrived. I went and found a shady spot and installed them. The also took about 45 minutes, but the fit is great. The headrest covers could be better as a little grey is peaking thru. I was surprised that a console cover was included. I had contacted them before ordering and was informed that since the center console is not a seat, that it would not be covered. That was a pleasant surprise and added some needed padding.

Thanks for the complements, unfortunately CoverKing wanted to replace the entire back section since that said the bolster that was uncovered is part of the seat back. I asked them to explain how my seats fold down if the covers are attached to an non-moving part. I finally got the replacement today, opened the box and they sent the wrong color, no way it would fit, seats would be non folding, and even if it did fit the battery vent was blocked. I love the product and the fit, but I am waiting to see how this will get resolved. I'll keep people updated since I recommended them.

Well I think my ticket with CoverKing is finally closed. It turns out that the pillars/bolsters are NOT considered part of the seat back, so they will not be covered. CoverKing is refunding me for the rear row and still letting me keep the covers. I guess I'll just cut up the replacement seat back cover they sent me and sew my own covers for the bolsters. You can't see the back, so it won't have to be pretty. At least I'll know it will match. I did get a kick out off the fact when I pointed out that the replacement they sent would have cover my hybrid battery vent if installed, they told me that I never mentioned that my Prius was a hybrid. They don't have a seat back pattern for the hybrid version of the 2007 Prius. I asked them where I can find one that isn't a hybrid :p. Not the outcome I hoped for initially, but I'll come out ahead on the deal.

Communicating with Coverking customer support can be exasperating. Very difficult to get a straight answer and they are always interrupting to offer a discount if you order right away.
