I'm a new Prius C buyer and was wondering if it's normal for the car not to honk when I lock it with my key fob? The headlights go off when I lock it but it doesn't make any sounds. If this isn't normal, can someone please tell me how to set it up to make it honk?
I learned of a fix to turn it down here. Mine was in the dash system car options. I absolutely hate the horn honks myself, but in my car it was just beeps. I was was delighted to be rid of it altogether. The in car option limits the volume.
The car has an external lock confirmation beep - not a honk. Its volume adjustable on at least the display audio system in the setup menu. Only Prius C three and four have this though. The radio in the One and Two have a setup button too, but I'm not sure if this can change vehicle settings.
Disclaimer: I thought all of you were crazy. If you happen to have the Toyota installed security system, you can toggle the option to have the horn "beep" when locking and unlocking. I remembered setting that option immediately after I purchased the car. I just ran out and checked and discovered it was through the alarm addendum manual. I'm accustomed to the confirmation "beep" and would be lost without it.
Ha... I actually changed my post to beep, cause honk seemed too rednecky after typing it. But, the horn "honks".
I can't tell you how many times I've had to go back and doublecheck that my car was locked because it doesn't honk
Me too. Why do you have to have your car honk? The lights flash and let's face it, you need to be able to see to drive. If anyone had a honking or beeping car when locking over here it would last about a week before it was keyed and about another week before the windows were put through. Honking and beeping at night is anti-social, just like having your windows smashed. I guess what goes around comes around.
Were not all crazy, maybe a little coo-coo. Lets be rednecks together, come on you can do I You cant be totally lost without it.
