Quick question guys. I just installed some LED lamps (W5W equivalent) for my license plate lighting... The LED lamps got a lot of good reviews on Amazon. I'm noticing that the lamps look a little dim though - they're not as bright as I thought they'd be. I think it's because the lenses are a little frosted. The lamp looks super bright when I plug it in, but after clipping it back into the housing, it looks dim through the lenses... Just want to know if this occurred with anyone else. Because the same lamps can be used for the parking lights,which I'm also planning on changing. The lens is clear for the parking lights, so I'm hoping they will look bright...
Hi Gunjee, Those LEDs look like they point straight up. You may look into some that light to the side: -Z
I got some like that off Amazon.. Don't think there the same brand but if I remember correctly do the they plug straight up and shine down? Been a while since I put mine in but mine are pretty bright. I was thinking about getting these... don't really need them but look cool. They point straight, which is why they look dim. I bought the ones Zedknepplin recommended. I'll post pics up once I install them. The same bulbs can be used for the parking lights. I'm wondering if I could use the original straight ones I bought, or would I have to use the side lights? Anyone know?
Ok, so I bought the side lights, only to find that they are too long, and won't fit. I'm having no luck with this...! Can anyone send me a link to some license plate LED bulbs that will fit and be bright enough to light the plate...???
I just got out my car when I pulled up at work and looked at the ones I got....and heres the exact package I bought from ebay....there all bright and ive had no issues! The license plate bulbs have led all around the sides of the bulbs as well 15pcs White SMD Map Dome Door LED Lights Interior Package Kit for Toyota Prius | eBay The ones you first posted are the ones in this kit that go in the front door lights...the pics are exactly what they look like. I can get you a pick of mine but not till tomorrow night....im at work now till 7am!! ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I've already got a 10 pack of LEDs from the first purchase, and another 4 pack of LEDs from this recent purchase...I don't want another 15 bulbs...! The eBay auction doesn't specify what goes into the license plates...please help...

I highly recommend these bulbs from Amazon, sold by seller Varsity174, and shipping from California. (NOT Hong Kong/China) You can get 4 bulbs for $2.50 shipped, and I used them to replace every bulb of this style on my car. (about 10?) I have no affiliation other than being a very happy customer. Squirt - are the dimensions on these bulbs correct (copied from Amazon)? 4.3 x 3.2 x 1 inches I measured the OEM bulb, and it is 3/4". These fit your license plate lights?
That's the packaging dimensions. They are a perfect fit for your license plate light, vanity lights, door bottom lights, parking lights, etc.
