I have those 3 warning lights coming on after driving my 2008 Prius (60,500+) for appox 60+ minutes or more on a fairly warm day. High 80's+ in South Florida. I think that the heat buildup under the hood during a short stop is causing some component in the brake system to throw an error. Here are some pics.... I took a screen shoot of what Torque was displaying. Not sure if the info is that big of a help in this case. Any insight would be appreciated. check all your fluid levels in your car first (oil and coolant). make sure the coolant level is checked at the radiator cap and not at the reservoir. Your car might be overheating
Thanks for the reply JC, That was all tested and checked. And you can see all the temps from the Torque app that all temps are good. I do think the heat buildup after the car has shut off is the problem. Figuring out the component that fails when above a certain will be the fun part.
1. When the Prius is READY, look for fluid turbulence within the inverter coolant reservoir. If you don't see this, the inverter coolant pump has failed. 2. If the inverter coolant pump is OK and you still see those warning lights on, get Mini VCI so you can retrieve the DTC logged by the skid control ECU.
Thanks for replying Patrick. Inverter coolant is working fine. I am not familiar with the mini VCI. I gather it will give me info my $15 ODB II scanner will not (its not showing any codes). I'll take it to the dealer this weekend. I just bought the car 1 month ago and the said I had a 3 month/3000 mi warranty.
You mention the "Torque" app in one of your posts. I had this same problem when I started using the Torque App. If you unplug the adapter from the car, turn the car off, wait a couple minutes and restart the car without the Bluetooth adapter plugged in, the warning lights should be off. If you go into the profile settings in Torque for your prius you can select the mode to ISO 15764-4 CAN (11 bit 500k baud). This will narrow the data that is being passed through the device and into the prius that must set those trouble lights.
