Did anyone else hear the story this a.m. (3/20) on Market Placeon NPR that someone is giving away $500 to 20 new Prius owners as long as their annual income is less than $80k? Same guy is also donating $100 to one of three eco-charities on behalf of anyone who reads some emails a survey. Here's the blurb from MarketPlace website Monday, March 20, 2006 Making a donation for you Listen to this story Hal Hinkle traded Wall Street for Planet Earth. The self-styled environmentalist wants you to read six e-mails he's written about global warming. In return, he'll donate $100 in your name to one of three eco-themed charities. Lisa Napoli reports. Since you asked, I heard the story on MarketPlace Morning Report while driving into work today. Had I not been so busy this morning, I would have posted something about the report. Sure hope some folks on PriusChat can utilize this opportunity.
Such cynacism! You guys are tough. The piece on Market Place identified him as being a succesful entrepreneur who retired young. Some of his claimed donations are listed on the site I referenced in my first posting. I just googled him and he seems to be the real deal -- judging from those who thank him for his contributions to their work or causes. Whoe else is claiming to hand out free money for owning a Prius? Ted
Thanks for posting this Ted. If nothing else we become more educated and educate others. If more- we get $500. A win/win. Thanks for posting.
I just got my check for $500! Awesome- it will help so much. I guess now he is offering for people that haven't bought the car yet , but are planning on it- a check for $500 to subsidize the payment. Awesome guy and awesome grant. I thought maybe it was BS, but is legit.
