Prius C four 16" wheels & turning circle

    I'm getting close to buying a 2014 prius c four that comes with the moonroof and 16" wheels. I don't have the option of getting this specific car with 15" wheels. I've read the 16s have a huge 37 ft turning circle versus the more nimble 15s. Is it the steering column of this car that sets that radius or the wheel size? If I get this car and someday change wheels to 15" would I still experience that 37ft turning circle? The dealer said the radius was due to wheel size but other threads in the forum made it sound like it was the mechanics of the car.
    Thanks for any feedback. Brand new to Toyota and Prius C.

    I've been driving my C with 16" wheels for two years, and the turning circle has never been an issue - you quickly get used to it. I have an Accord with similar steering; it is NOT a big deal.
    You can't change it anyway - it's determined by the steering rack.
    The 16" wheels give very quick and nimble control in corners. I don't recommend increasing tire pressures with the 16's to gain better mileage - you will get another 2-3 mpg, but the ride is already quite firm at stock pressures because of the low profile tires (50%), and I've noticed the car starts to wander a little at higher pressures (40/37), needing small steering corrections.

    I've had 195/45x17's on mine without the slightest concern. And yes, 40 psig but then I drive mine on track at to speeds so ride isn't an issue long as it corners well.
    Check the offset of the 16 vs 15" wheels. It just may be the offset is less, meaning the wheel 'sticks out' further so the turning circle is greater for that reason. Its not likely a real concern.

    I have the 16's. I can turn into an opposing direction parkins spot at walmart, but can't do a U-turn on the street and stay in the two center lanes.

    If it is very important to you to maintain u-turn capability, don't get the 16's. I've learned to live with it, but sometimes I would like to have the old, small turns of the CRX.

    Still miles ahead of what my truck does...

    Thanks for the input. I drove the c4 & though it circles big I really liked the features (moonroof, heated butt & mirrors, & the soft seats) so took him home--named him bully (for silver bullet). Looking forward to more drives & getting better MPGs.

    Wife really likes the butt heaters. I turn them on when she's not looking, and pretty soon I hear, "Ooooo. Ahhhhh."
