sure people do it, otherwise, they wouldn't still be pushing it. do smart people do it? that's the question you have to ask yourself.
I love my C, and I would get the C again if I had to do it over again. However, I really don't see what you'd be gaining by doing this. Even if it was a hatchback for a hatchback, I wouldn't do it. You'd be paying two years of payments to gain one model year. Besides, big changes are coming to the 2015 models. If you really want to upgrade, wait until then.
You should keep your current car. The less interest you have to pay, the less money you're throwing out the window in the long run, particularly as it's only a one year difference between cars and you'd be switching to a smaller car, unless that's what you really want. Like others have posted, if you really want a new car that badly, just wait till the 4th gen Prius comes out. Then you'll have hopefully either paid off this car, or don't owe much on it, so can trade it in while only having to pay a few thousand, as opposed to a couple tens of thousands.
to set the record straight, i would never consider something like this. frankly, i am amazed that anyone would, and wanted to share that amazement w you.
