I had submitted an amended tax form to utilize the $2500 tax credit for my 2013 PIP, bought last July. IRS has returned the Form 8936, asking for more info. They want a "Manufacturer's Certification that indicates the particular make, model and model year of the vehicle that qualifies as a plug-in electric motor vehicle, and that specifies the amount". Does anyone know where I can this certification?
No. IRS has asked for the invoice separately. The certification is something that Toyota files with the IRS, from what I understand.

That makes no sense. The government has this information - in fact they publish it. All you should need to provide is documentation of the VIN number and date of sale. LOTS of confusion about this tax credit, even with IRS employees, due to a very similar credit that expired in 2010. The IRS page referenced above is the "currently operative" one: 30D. New Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicles – Toyota Motor Sales, S.S.A., Inc. where the IRS states what credit the Prius Plug-in is entitled to under "Section 30D".
