HELP! Can I inquire about maintenance via Cafax phone numbers?

    Hi all - I'm looking at a few Prii. One is a 2007 with 88k miles, 1-owner. The other is an 06 with 69k miles, 3 owners. The other is a 2007 Prius 80k miles, 1-owner. All have a clean carfax, my only question is, can I call service station phone numbers and inquire about maintenance done on the vehicles such as, has the CVT transmission fluid been flushed? -Thanks!

    There is no pressing need for service on the prius before 100k miles. All 3 cars has fairly low mileage where is should not have maintenance issues beyond regular oil changes.

    Can I ask why you are so concerned about the transaxle going bad? You mention it on all your threads? It's really a very reliable transaxle

    lol yeah - its been brought up by someone on this thread and I know it is an very expensive part to replace. I live in a CARB state so I'm not worried about the battery really at all so the transaxle is the only part I worry about. I'm glad to hear though that this is a very reliable piece, thanks for the piece of mind haha

    I'm test driving the 2007 Prius with 80k miles tomorrow, any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

    If there will be a transaxle failure, most likely it would come after 150k miles

    Carfax only reports maintenance done through dealer networks, will not show anything done privately or diy work.

    If you buy my cars, it would show very little on carfax but it's meticulously maintained (from the point I owned them)

    When I traded in my first Prius, the maintenance stop at a faraway Toyota dealer during an extended road trip was not recorded.
