I'm watching the race on the Audi Sport website, which is a live feed from their cars and if you look at the speedometer, you can see the E-tron battery charge going up and down.
What is with the weaving when under a yellow flag? Is #8 out? What happened? I just tuned in. Bob Wilson
Audi wins again. Porsche made a go at it with mark webbers skill, but the car had problems with 2 hours left. Accidents and mechanical failures seemed to rule this race. The 2 audis had their turbo chargers changed. Toyota was far behind. Audi runs at least three cars every year, so the odds are always in their favor. It was by luck Toyota made the podium.
I missed the first hour or so of coverage of the race, probably a lot of background on the teams and cars. There is so much going on in this race on the technical side that the announcing crew of old drivers need a geek or two for elaboration of what is going on. Go Toyota! They had really fast cars. The ZEOD really stole the show for me. I like the dart cars and this was the first time that I had seen the Nissan. The transmissions need to be beefed up so that the Delta Wing and ZEOD can finish races.
The pictures of them running in the rain were amazing...skilled drivers. And the limits on how many of what sets of tire treads they were able to use having to be declared before the race added to the strategy.
Some teams were getting over 400 mi out of a set of tires! Lots of rules in the pits, like one air gun over the wall for tire changes and no work until fueling is complete, made for clean and lengthy pit stops.
