To the new owners of Prius cars with high mileage, make sure you check the oil levels on your car. They tend to burn oil and you don't want to be caught without oil in the engine.

Adding up the percentage from each year does not give the overall percentage for all the years.
You need to calculate the weighted average of all the percentage numbers based on annual production volumes.
I would expect a number much lower than 17% you posted.

Took my prius to Toyota dealer today. They changed the engine water pump, drive belt, engine air filter, and cabin air filter. Total cost parts and labor $322. They were supposed to rotate the tires but somehow that didn't end up on the invoice. They gave me a card for a free tire rotation on my next visit since I didn't have time to wait for them to do it.

That's a very good price, my dealer won't even do the water pump for $350

I called other local dealers. They were all about $90 higher on labor costs. The dealer I went to is in a smaller town. Maybe that's the difference, I don't know.

I just wanted to take the time to give an update since it has been just over a year since my prius purchase. I mostly use this car on my paper route. I purchased it in May of last year with 176k mi on it. It now has just over 228k mi. So I've put 52k miles on it in 13 months.

I've done oil changes every 5k miles and check the oil at every fill up. I usually have to add oil once between oil changes.

I've replaced the engine water pump, drive belt, front break pads, wheel bearings, engine and cabin air filters as needed, and just recently the 12 volt battery. This prius has the original HV battery.

After a year of ownership I am overall happy with my prius.

I bought my 2008 Prius T Spirit June 29th 2013 with 55,455 miles on the clock. It's now been two years since I bought it.
It has been used extensively for commuting, and all other things you'd use a vehicle of this type for. The Spaceship, as I fondly call it, now has 75,218 miles on the clock. This amazing vehicle hasn't missed a beat in 24 months, and has never, ever let me down.

I get a very warm feeling when I read stories about Prii that have done over 200,000 miles on their original HV batteries and are still smoothly cruising around as if they rolled out of the factory last week.
You know what? When my HV battery fails, so be it. I might get lucky and get 250,000 miles out of it. Or it might go at 160,000 or even less - if I was REALLY unlucky, though that's unlikely, considering the amount of care that "The Spaceship" receives. And I live in a temperate climate where it's really hot for perhaps 6 weeks out of 52 per year.

The Prius has saved me a great deal of money already and is easily the best vehicular investment I have ever made.
I thoroughly enjoy driving everyday, looking at other vehicles I'd once considered buying and realizing what a lucky escape I've had from buying some other mundane car instead of this futuristic wonder.

The Prius; A lot more than a common car, a little less than a Spacecraft....!! :)
