Today I bought a 2004 used Prius with 188,000 km (approx 117,000 mi). I've wanted a Prius for years! I achieved what I think is an impressive 6 l/km or 47 mpg without really modifying how I normally drive... What do y'all think? Good? I think I can do better! Lol Nexus 4 ?
Welcome to PRIUSchat!! You will love passing up those gas stations!! May this can help; Better Gas Mileage in a Toyota Prius - HybridCars.com
Do you mean 6 liters per 100 km? If so, that's 47 miles per Imperial gallon, which is useless here in the US. Nobody uses those larger gallons here. 6 l/100 km == ~39.2 miles per US gallon.
What person not from the US South would write "y'all" ? OP: yes, the Prius can usually do much better than 39 MPG(us). I routinely hit 70 MPG(us) in my city driving, around 55 MPG(us) on the highway.
Lol a person who grew up in small town in northern Ontario, Canada with people from Texas and Ohio. I also have an American accent. And ya I figured I could do better, that was a combo of Toronto rush hour, highway, etc driving. I reset the calculator just after I bought it. Nexus 4 ?
Try the google search box vs Google also understands 'litres,' and thousands of other terms. It is actually a very sophisticated calculator that can somewhat substitute for a scientific handheld calculator. For unit conversions it has to be played with to believe. E.g., try I presume the magic is obtained through compound substitutions, but that is a guess.
I got it converting right now... I just use google convert function instead of a random online one... Thanks everyone! Nexus 4 ?
Congratulations on buying your Prius 2nd Gen, and welcome to Prius Chat too! I can imagine exactly how you feel. I bought my 2008 T Spirit (Touring in the US) about a year ago, and I'm still obsessing (somewhat) over my MPG per tankful - lol! The Prius is a lot more than a car, a little less than a Spaceship. Well, it feels that way to me! On my way home today, I pulled in at the petrol station with one pip left on my fuel gauge. My statistics (I'm in the UK) for the last tankful (43 litres) work out 575 miles @ 62.7mpg indicated. And that's driving with far more verve than I did one year ago, when I managed to get 605 miles @ 66mpg. I think my first tank might have been 59mpg or something (UK). I'm no longer just impressed with my Prius - I'm in total awe of this magnificent vehicle with reliable futuristic technology nestling under its streamlined but otherwise apparently unassuming fuselage. Yes, I just used aviation terminology to describe the Prius. Half the time, it feels like you're flying it, not driving it . And it acts like an aircraft a lot of the time too!! Full thrust going up a hill, gliding smoothly when dropping down the other side. Engage cruise control on a long journey over flat terrain - and I swear the quiet distant humming sound of Hybrid Synergy Drive disturbingly mimics the sound of two quiet synchronised Rolls Royce Turbofans idling along during the cruise phase of a flight. As a driver (pilot?) of a Prius, you quickly learn to use and exploit momentum the same way you might do when flying an airliner - it's not the same as driving an ordinary car. Right, I'm gonna stop rambling now....... One year later and I'm still over the moon with what is easily the best vehicle I have ever owned. iPad ? HD
Day #6. Love love love my Prius! ( 2008/85,000 ml/package#6 [Classic Metallic Silver] ) Package #6 includes leather seats, I have never owned a car with leather seats. The interior is dark gray. I have been shopping for dark gray sheepskin seat covers. Forgive my Venetian view. iPhone ?
