hello i have a problem that giving me a headache, i have 2009 prius and starting almost a month ago, the Anti Theft Alarm Horn keeps starting for nothing, some times it starts for 5 or 6 times a day and spend days without getting off. i replaced the 12V battery 5 months ago, and i got the car examined at 3 workshops and they all say there is nothing with the car. please help
Has the car ever been in an accident? Check to see if all doors are tightly closed. More than likely the alarm is being triggered from a half open trunk.
everytime the alarm goes off i open all the doors including the trunk and close them, but still the alarm goes off, is there a way to know which door might have a problem.
A decent shop should be able to scan to see which door jam sensor could be bad. If you would like, you can message me your vin number and I would be more than happy to check Carfax and Toyota databases for any recorded collisions to see if it could be a body issue.
That's very nice of you to extend a helping hand. I think the OP is not in the USA, not sure if carfax would apply here.
The country of Jordan is the largest buyer of high mileage Prius from the USA. Trust me, there is a VIN number on it and 90% of 2009's arrived there this year.
If you try and search for a 2009 Prius with a clean carfax, you will not find a single one over 150,000 miles at a reasonable price because Jordan is paying $10,000+ here before leaving the USA.
yes you are right lol, we buy the high milage cars, but mine is about 60k which is considered great here my vin is : JTDKB20U293519953 if you don't mind running a check on it, because they said it had one accident on the front left side which didn't reach the door.
Husni, You may be having a problem with the structure of the car. According to Carfax, your car is a salvage title and it looks like your car took damage to the front driver side frame.
Front driver side... open hood and look down towards the front bumper. There should be some white with black stripe wires connecting to the body with bolts. They are ground wires, and should be coming out of the bottom of the fuse/relay box. I would check if the bolts are loose/tighten them. SCH-R530M ?
Thanks alot walpoleauto for the help, i guess my problem is in the driver door thanks jzchen for the info i will try to take a look at them
