C'mon ... who hasn't seen something like this, again & again:

If folks don't mind blocking chargers (in the above case, there were plenty of additional spots available) - give them the glory they deserve - memorialize it digitally, post it here & give them the credit they deserve. As the guy walked away, I pointed out the spots are for plug in's, but the one finger salute was given in stead of moving. I took this shot at the Oceanside CA Metro-link station. I guess their message is, 'You can drive an suv solo AND block a plug-in, all in one fell swoop.

Maybe the Sequoia was mind-melding with the charging station, possibly an advance form of EV disguised as a rain-forest killer?

Oh the infamous, overweight, rude, self-serving SUV driver. I just love Americans.

There isn't any sign saying for plugin or EV only, nor any thing thing painted on parking space from the picture.
No law violated and you got the one finger salute.

Can't read the sign details from this picture, but there is:

On further review, looks like every other space is marked EV. So it may be okay for ICE parking in between.

Wouldn't it be the same if a plug-in vehicle were parked in a plug-in spot and not using it? It's not like handicapped parking, where it would create a hardship if a disabled person couldn't use the spot.

Anyhow, it appears in the photo that there's plenty of access to charging stations without reserving a large block of spots for PIV's only. It looks like a common-sense solution to me.

For a moment there, I thought you might be telling a joke about a blonde trying to plug the block heater cord into a hybrid charging station.

Was at a Trader Joe's and an old Accord was parked in the charging spot - there are only two. My plan was to just leave a semi polite note, and draping the charge cable on the hood if it was still there by the time I came out. The owner was there when I was leaving. It was an elderly woman. I helped her with her groceries instead... (n)

It'll probably be some time before any of that happens around here. The only place I've seen that has charging spots is up at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City.

A couple of weeks ago at a EV gathering at a 10 station system, a Leaf owner mentioned having one time seen all ten stations occupied by Volts, most of which were not connected.

On the positive side, I drove for lunch to a downtown of a small city not knowing that they had a street fair or farmer's market of some sort going on. The ChargePoint phone app said there was an available station inside a parking garage on the 3rd level.

After I pulled in to the ground
floor I realized there was a huge line of cars very slowly circling around desperately looking for an open space. It took me about 10 minutes to work my way up to the 3rd floor and I was about 90% certain I would finally get to the EV charging space and find it ICEd but it was actually open and available.

Maybe people were too embarrassed to ICE it with lots of other drivers around watching them.

I was at a 3-day conference in Banff last month, and the hotel had a charging station in the underground parking garage. One day I came back to find a non-electric car in the charging spot. I asked the hotel to track down the owner and ask them to move. When he finally showed up, I expected a grumpy encounter, but he cheerfully took his car out to the street. Young guy, probably felt bad about it.

That rare! I always have my boxing gloves ready. :)

  15. At least with plug-in hybrids if you need to, you can fill up on gas. On an all-electric, you really do need to recharge, so I can imagine Leaf/Tesla owners having those "boxing gloves"

This may be slightly off topic, but the scenery looks so cool in your picture...for comparison here we have clouds, wind, mosquitoes, and moose...and people are out in shorts anyway :ROFLMAO:

Although plug-in hybrids have gas if needed, it's likely with a small battery their EV range is much shorter, so it's much more likely that the plug-in hybrid requires the recharge to be able to make the trip fully in EV (and what's the point of having a plug-in hybrid vs a hybrid if you're not going to maximize your EV range).

It's also more likely with a much larger battery size the EV owner is opportunity charging and not necessarily charging to be able to make it home. That being said, any EV owner that doesn't have enough range to make it home should have priority, but they really should know the consequences of going outside their range and not being able to depend 100% on public charging stations.

I recognize that vehicle and that garage -- the union station garage in downtown LA. When I first bought my PiP, I was picking a friend up at the train station. Wanted to charge my car. She pulled up next to me as I was plugging in. I told her that the spaces were for electric cars and she would get a ticket. Her response was "I haven't got one yet."

Look at my photo on fuelly.. recognize the car next to me?

That's a polite way for her to say (to anyone who'd correct her) $¢reu you & anyone else - because it's all about MEEEEE. NO different from the avcon inductive charger days - where the Costco store employees would regularly ICE their own chargers.
