How is a 50" tire going to be that of a regular tire on a car? Have you seen these types of cars? They have to raise the suspension to accommodate the large tire size, which often times cannot fit the dimensions of the wheel well.
That's what I was thinking is that bigger wheels <> better MPG. I never took a car knowledge 101, instead I did car maintenance 101 (oil changes, tire changes, repair, watch/light assist in engine rebuild) so I really don't know. I'm not a troll. :(

:p I'm really not a "you're wrong i'm right! " sort of person or try to show anyone up online. I just don't want you or anyone else to make a potentially expensive mistake. (y)

I don't know much about getting the best out of your Prius when climbing the mountains (I'm sure there are others with much more experience than me, so I'll leave it to them to tell you) but as far as going down those mountains, read up all you can and become an expert on using the "B" mode (or "B" Shift) in your Prius - Good Luck - Wil

I have never used "B" shift.. Overall I didn't want to put a tow on the motor. I'm am afraid it might be too much.

Well, bear in mind that Toyota has spent much effort and resources on making the Prius very efficient, including regenerating energy, transferring it back into the traction-battery instead of wasting it as heat in the brakes. Do some research (here and on-line) on how to get the most of your Prius. Not using a feature because you don't understand how it works isn't necessarily a good excuse! ;)
