toyota does sell them, and sometimes you can get them on ebay. toyota doesn't recommend other L1 chargers beside their own. turbo cord looks like a decent product.

From the TurboCord site, the L2 upgrade lowers the recharge from 3.1 hours to 2.1 hours. Is the pretty much the same for all Level 2 EVSEs with the PIP due to the charger limitation?

Yep irregardless whether you have 60A Leviton or the dual voltage TurboCord plugged into a dryer outlet with only a 15A circuit.

Thanks, drash. There seems to be a slight advantage with the L2, which may actually be helpful in some scenarios.

my L2 takes 90 minutes or less, not sure why they say 2.1 hours.

The 1:30 L2 time and the 2:15 L1 time are fairly indicative of what people get with the PiP. In both cases, this is charging at 12A, the maximum the PiP charger accepts. Maybe the TurboCord cannot deliver 12A, so its charge time is longer?

Yes, the Turbo cord is the only one with charge time tables that show Level 2 takes over two hours. That makes it totally a nonstarter for me. Now, cutting charge time from (my experience) 2:50 down to 1:30 is definitely tantalizing. But my new home sadly has no open breaker spots on the panel and no 220v outlets in the garage. On the other hand, I'm using the 220v outlet in the garage (though I never bought a L2 charger knowing I was moving) as a feature of my old place I'm selling.

My house don't even have the 220 outlet in the garage. Otherwise I would tap into that and move the garage motor to another outlet ha

It makes me feel guilty I have 6 220 outlets in my garage, two of them 3 phase.

I'm not so lucky with my 1973-built house. Very jealous.

At least one of the previous owners had a metal shop repairing vending machines instead of cars in there.

I found it funny that some countries that use 220/240 have the light switch for the bathroom outside the bathroom.
It must provide endless amusement for the young (and young at heart)...
