I couldnt find a thread on programming this part of the key. I have a 2004 toyota prius that i bought a little while ago. The previous owner said they never used the smart key system and when i bought it from them, the fob key battery was out too. I replaced the battery in the fob key and now the unlock/lock/alarm button on the car key. Ive pushed the smart key button under the steering wheel on and off to see if it works and it hasnt worked for the keyless features. Does anyone know how to program the key to work on there or how to set it up? Thanks in advances.
I only got one fob key but I'm sure it might be the original since the back on the key has the silver Toyota logo on it.
Does your car start with the key in your pocket? If not, try pressing the SKS button under the steering wheel and see if the car will start when the key's in your pocket
Have you tried locking and unlocking the doors on both the driver and passenger side of the car using the SKS functions? If that won't work, there must be something wrong with the switch that turns the SKS on and off. I'll have to see if anything in the repair manual can shed some light on this.
Yes under the steering wheel there is a button that says "smart" I have the package 6 prius 2004 which includes every feature(Bluetooth etc) I also put in a new battery in the prius fob key and the sks still doesn't work.
It's not the problem with the remote or battery, you might have to get this diagnosed at the dealer. The problem is the car's ecu. SM-N900P ?
