Did you read the fine print on that one? That price is after all incentives, but some incentives require financing through Ford. If you don't finance then the price goes up. In that case I'd recommend financing a small amount and then immediately paying off the loan with the cash you have. On the Fusion there is an extra $500 cash back that is only available if you finance through Ford Credit. I haven't researched C-Max incentives but it is likely the same. I would get the C-Max because that seems like a pretty incredible deal! Have you compared the C-Max SE features versus the SEL features versus the Prii that you're considering? You could likely get a used Prius with more features or a new C-Max with less features for the same price. Or you could get a used C-Max with more features. Some of the C-Max SEL features are pretty awesome! And there are some that the Prius doesn't offer like the kick activated power liftgate.
ETC... yeah aint it fun... HB. yeah I saw the fine print... finance $1 thats the dilema I'm at right now......do I want a new car with fewer options and a warranty or an older car with more options for about the same amount of cash..and more miles... none of the v(wagons) have any bumper to bumper left... although the the 2010 for 16K with plenty of options (no leather) woudl leave about 3 grand in my pocket... plus Id get to reuse my weather techs and grille blocker and nav bypass.. hard to pass up cash in pocket...
I would take the warranty. Your winters aren't as brutal as ours in MN, but a 2010 has already been through 4 (or maybe even 5 if it was built & sold in late 2009) winters. That takes a huge toll on a car. And an old car with low miles wasn't driven much and thus was likely driven only in the city and those are the most taxing miles for a car. Also, the first few miles can be so crucial to the longevity of a car. I'd want to drive those first few miles to make sure that the car is taken care of and will last a long time.
today its narrowed down between 2012 prius wagon 5 2010 prius 3 with nav, jbl, no leather 2013 c-max SE...NIB no fancy options. of course that all can change with the next craigslist search or visit to cars.com
You have a good market for used Prii up your way. Here, all I could find had more miles than I wanted (under 40,000) or didn't have Bluetooth.
I would get the new car for the reasons I mentioned above. For me that would be no contest, the warranty & peace of mind is worth the missing features.
DP... yeah great selection, which is the problem. hard to make a choice. Yes BT is one of the necessities, that and USB port are on the must have list... went and looked that new 2013.... nice... first go round out the door they are at 21245 OTD. Going to look at another tomorrow at lunch. about 30 miles away a 2013 Cmax 11K miles with the SEL trim (comparable to level 5 on a prius) for 18980 asking which means they should be OTD 20500 before we start the game... so still a large balance left on factory bumper to bumper... which is nice piece of mind..on a first model year car
Bluetooth is a must! My husband doesn't get it but his car is old enough to vote, 1995 Passport, so he wouldn't know. It was great when I was commuting 30 miles to work and another 30 back.
Well, I have officially left the prius family... took delivery of a 2013 ford c-max SEL with 11,000 miles I'll have some stuff for sale shortly... grey Weather techs, key fob, white sharkfin antenna, 2010 owners manual, custom carbon grille block, a rear cargo mat and the cpaudio nav bypass...
whats your zip... I'll weigh it and get a price....not sure what the cargo mat costs new, but we can make it worth it... Oh...on the 60 mile trip home from the dealer I was able to average 45 mpg. and I saw on the info screen the cmax has had 6000+ miles in EV mode...
also have center caps.... I'll weight the mat and get a shipping quote for you. not sure what the factory mat is going for used but we can make it work...
As a side note, every time I get notifications of replies on this thread I begin singing the chorus of Another One Bites the Dust by Queen in my head. Am I alone here?
