I'm 6' 2" with long legs and voted 1 as I can adjust the steering wheel where I want it.

I can also adjust the seat where I want it.

What I would value on long trips but can't do is to adjust both the seat base and the steering wheel into a wide range of comfortable positions. Of the two, I would value the ability to adjust the tilt of the seat base separately from its height more than I would value a greater range of placement of the steering wheel

It would be good to have a tilt knob for seat base in manual seat, but that is rarely found (FJ Cruiser for some reason has that). Otherwise takes an 8-way power seat (not including 2 ways for lumbar adjust).

fwiw, I like Honda's approach to manual and power seat adjustment: They leave seat (base) tilt constant thoughout the manual or power height adjust range. Plus, in power seats, the whole seat tilts which I like. This maintains the seat bottom to seatback angle.

Toyota's manual and power seats ... the seat tilt varies (increases) as the seat is lowered. Also, there power tilt adjust only changes the seat bottom which feels kinda weird to me and seems to require moving the seatback also to compensate. But, ultimately, a Camry power seat felt as comfortable as an Accord power seat, but not the previous generation Accord, yikes, that seat had toooo much lumbar curve!!! (see reviews for 2012 Accord sedan, Edmunds, many complaints!!)

I'm 5-10" but voted yes, because the steering wheel doesn't hit my knees until I use cruise control and then relax my legs.

Very interesting .... 25% votes for cannot telescope wheel close enough ..... 0% votes for cannot telescope wheel far enough away.

I might write to Toyota with printout of results. More votes needed, your vote counts! TIA.

For me at 5' 9", which is about average height, it's always been about the comfort of the Prius steering tilt angle. My prior car's tilt (Cadillac Seville) could be brought down into your lap, if you wanted it that low. On long trips, it's much more comfortable that way. The OEM Prius setup forces your arms to be higher up no matter how you set the seat height.

Would be better if the column was up a bit higher in dashboard, wheel tilts down more and scopes more.

Oh well. Prius liftback has its shortcomings. It's all about the MPGs and hatchback. Camry Hybrid better driving car, despite its oddities.

Going to pick up an Avalon 3.5 V6 today to rent for day trip. Stay tuned for more capping on the Prius.

Around here, yes. But, I'd fit right in with those C&D journalist types who enjoy a well-balanced car unlike yourself.

Bet you've never owned or ridden one of these have you? 050705 002small.JPG

Not all consumers drive their vehicles with "stiff arms" ala' Formula-1 racers; some actually want to ENJOY the go drive (wink, wink).

No end to this Prius interior problem. I still find our 2011 Four very comfortable for any kind of travel, long, medium or short distance. I now have a new Honda Insight and have found it to be quite comfortable as well, but I still prefer the ergonomics, road dynamics and especially the fluid hybrid system smoothness during operation of the Prius over the Honda. I'm a long time Honda fan... I've owned several of them through the years since the first Civic CVCC we had in 1974. This Prius is only my second Toyota and it's a quantum level up in driving enjoyment when compared to the second gen Prius we had before.

I'm 5'9, "normal" build (you know, 2 legs, 2 arms a torso and such), weigh about 175 to 185 pounds, depending on time of year, and the interior of the Prius, while not perfect by any means (I'm pretty sure that over 99% of the cars out there are not perfect either) allows enough adjustability to make me very comfortable. The steering wheel can be tilted and telescoped to a good position for normal daily and extended trip operation.

Not quite sure what riding a motorcycle has to do with the Prius, but I too ride them. I'm partial to Kawasaki sport bikes. I even ride a bicycle! If I could afford an electric motorcycle, I'd definitely have one! 100% of torque available from zero rpm has got to be some fun!

Anyone on this forum that can't get comfortable in a Prius should obviously try a different car, or modify the Prius to fit if possible. A good thorough test drive in any car you're thinking about purchasing is a must, before plunking down any amount of cash and signing on the dotted line. I keep my cars a long time compared to most of the people I know, so it's a long term commitment. Super important to do the homework before the purchase.

Here's an example of what can happen... I wanted a Jeep when I moved to northwestern Montana a long while back. It was a CJ-7, and after driving one for about 50 miles, I found I really wanted it much less than I though I did. Jeeps of that vintage were a truly horribly uncomfortable car on normal roads with NVH levels that approached those of an Army deuce and a half. The CJ would certainly get you through a lot of territory that a normal car wouldn't be able to handle, but you'd pay a huge price in comfort most of the time. I didn't buy the Jeep.

So, with that in mind, I found that the 3rd gen Prius is really quite a sweet riding automobile that gets great gas mileage, is as reliable a car as can be found anywhere these days, has more than adequate cargo capacity and by golly, that interior with it's "flying bridge" and plastic covered everything is just fine. I still really like this car. We have over 43k miles on it and have logged several enjoyable long trips so far. It still runs like new. Just drove it to the grocery store and back a few hours ago, a little 17 mile trip, and it was great. I feel pretty darned spoiled when I drive it. :)

sorry, missed that. i had a yamaha dirt bike for a few years in my late teens. i showed up at my parents beach house one day (they didn't know i had it) and they begged me to sell it. they had seen too much death and injury from motorcycle riding. i gave in and have never really missed it.

And I did just that. Cycledrum's complaint about lack of range on the lower end of the tilt steering is valid if anyone here ever owned a luxury car where you could drop the tilt as low as you wanted to for a more a more comfortable drive, especially long distances. My tilt mod is probably not condoned by Toyota so I'm not willing to share how I did it publicly, but I've done it now for 2 Priis including mine. My friend, who lives in this city, drove my lowered tilt and persuaded me to modify his too. When I asked him a month later if he wanted it reversed, he said "no way"!

BTW, the mod is probably for folks who are at or a bit below normal height (maybe if you at or south of 5' 8"). I don't see how it would help someone who was taller.

I'm 5'11" and I voted yes. Who drives with both hands on 10-2 for extended periods anyway? I'm sure I'm like most people, my hands move around: sometimes 10-2, sometimes 9-3, other times one hand at 6, and the other holding a drink.

I'm not fixed in my chair like an F-1 cockpit so it doesn't need to conform 100% to my body. I probably fall within the bell curve anyway which is why I have never complained about ergonomics in the 4yr that I've had my prius.
