My dealer told me our hybrid drive was the same as the regular Prius, just scaled down. So why were we not recalled and fixed like they were?
Our system is similar but no major components are shared. So quite possibly no need. If we need/deserve it we'll get one. Our powertrain is the most similar to genII even then we are a decent bit different.
The recalls I'm aware of were for the GenII, and were to replace the intermediate steering shaft on certain vehicles (some were not properly heat treated, but not all), modify the gas pedal for floor mat issues (cut off the bottom inch), and replace the inverter coolant pump. If these are what you refer to, they have been fixed long before our cars were built. We will get notice if our C has an issue in the future. And, welcome to PriusChat!
The latest gen 3 hatchback recall changes the car's acceleration behaviour, they were worried about overstressing some components in the inverter, causing them to crack under hard acceleration. There's a good possibility the C's design varies enough that it's ok as-is.
I went out and checked my C and I don't think there is going to be any problem with overstressing components from rapid acceleration Don't get me wrong I can accelerate as fast as I need, just not likely to break a drive shaft kind of acceleration. I really hope they don't recall the thing and reduce the power
call it what you want, it won't slam you back in your seat, My wife has a 12 hycam and that is a different story, I wish they would put that in a prius c, that would be fun. and still would likely get almost 50 combined. we get 40 with it in the camry. beef up the drive shafts and put that 2.5l with the larger hybrid components. the 12 and on camry hybrid weighs less than the older ones, I wonder is it has lighter battry.
