Yes I know there is a thread about this app with custom PIDs included. I recently got a bluetooth reader to plug into my OBD port in my 2007 Prius and I have the free version of the Torque app. It seems to all work. But I guess I am way less technical than a lot of you because I can see all kinds of data and graphs but I don't see much that helps me. Are there any basic readings or graphs that can be used to help in getting the best MPG and maybe monitoring the hybrid battery to watch for any problems there? Thanks, Glenn
The free Torque version is just a demo - you will need the paid version. Much of what comes with Torque Pro doesn't work accurately with Prii or at all; the thread you mentioned with custom pids is the only way to go. It's a bit of a steep learning curve, but you will get plenty of help from this forum, and it is well worth it - I'm running about 18 pids on 3 screens. GT-I9300 ?
I don't mind buying the paid app but i just am trying to figure out exactly what it will do for me? I will try to read thru the custom PID thread again but most of it is above my head mechanically. Thanks, Glenn
I like to monitor temperatures, and anything that helps fuel economy. In no particular order, I measure: Coolant Temp Fuel Input HV System Indicator * Room Temp Sensor * Engine Speed * Engine Run Time State of Charge * MG1 temp MG2 temp Inverter MG1 temp Inverter MG2 temp Inverter Coolant temp A/C Consumption power * Temp of Batt TB2 Cooling Fan 0 I also have a virtual pid for fuel economy, derived from Torque's Trip Distance, and Fuel used (trip). This, plus the starred ones above, are on my main screen. I have looked at lots of others from time to time, like FR Regenerative Operation, and Batt Pack Current Value, but the ones above I like to regularly monitor. Lots of forum members have used scangauge for a long time, which does much the same things, so all their threads are useful.
Question I have a samsung smartphone without service currently. I am curious if possible can Torque be installed on the device and how to go about doing so?
If you can access the internet via wifi, you should be able to access the Google Play Store and get the free or the paid version of Torque. Provided the phone is owned outright (i.e., not under an initial contract commitment following a carrier subsidized purchase), there should be nothing stopping you from doing this.
