Hi all, got the new 2014 Prius on April 20th 2014, replacing a big old gas guzzling SUV(sold off) Almost 2 months later, have just crossed the 1,500 mile mark. I have been using the Prius MPG driving techniques discussed here in chat. On days that I drive, it is usually around 100 miles of mixed local/highway driving, but even on the freeways here in Los Angeles there is so much traffic you end up with stop/slow and go driving, perfectly suited for this hybrid. I have not reset my trip A since rolling off the dealer lot(5 miles on odo) and it reads 52.8 MPG and climbing slowly. My trip B, I reset with every fill up and is currently at 54.8 with 190 miles to go before empty. I have read here that the computer is a little optimistic as is the speedometer by about 1 mile per hour according to the gps on my phone. Loving the new experience, -Manoli
Congrats on your new whip, "ride"enjoy the great mileage as I am. Look at youtube for hypermileing cool videos. Where'd you buy it? Keys of van nuys ? Welcome to the family
I think it is good to get onto fuelly and that way it is easy to track your real mpg and you can see if something has changed. That way you will know if your car is not working the way it should without waiting for a service at the dealership to find any issues, my .02 nice choice in cars!
Welcome from the uk I picked up my pearl white but only a 2010 model last weekend. Great car and unbelievable mileage. Glad you are enjoying it and like you say a perfect car for your regular commutes I also find it very rewarding and very challenging to drive as I try to outdo my mpg with each journey. It is amazing what can be accomplished but this really only appeals to the inner geek.
