In case you haven't heard the story: "Spank" (EKIM) bought this car with over 340,000 miles on the clock, brought it back to life, and invited a bunch of us to come race it and two other cars with him at Sears Point All three cars were for sale, and I enjoyed racing the prius so much that I bought it and drove it cross-country to South Carolina We just finished racing it again at Carolina Motorsports Park and had a BLAST. It's not blazing fast, but fun to drive, and turns consistent lap times. I'd post an image and a link to the RacePrius facebook page, but I don't have enough posts yet.
Haha, no, it's white with lots of bumper stickers and a giant COEXIST on the side, made out of the logos of various car manufacturers.
so does it have a windshield? if not did you wear your helmet when you drove on the highway? bet that would get some looks
Full windshield is required safety equipment on the track. We also race with full-faced helmets and head sock in case of fire. We also had full interior for the first race, but were asked to remove it because of the fire hazard. But less weight means we go faster around the track!
I was thinking of my brothers race car. they have to put in I think lexan windshield or use wire screen, that is what he does. did you do any reprograming of the car to increase performance?
Not yet. We put sticky tires (Dunlop Direzza ZII) on the car, some aggressive brake pads (Carbotech XP8), and dialed in 2° of camber on the front. Other than that and the cage, the car is basically stock. We have lots of ideas to improve performance, but with 347,000 miles on the car, we want to make sure the car runs well before we make it run fast.
