I have read somewhere here that the 2015 C will be a redesign. Does anyone have any inside info on how extensive the changes will be?
It'll most likely be a refresh, not a redesign. That means different looking headlights, taillights, front grill etc. No info or pics on just what it'll look like yet. The Prius v will also most likely get a refresh for MY 2015 as well.
I saw this today. http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49909 Might be a new engine in the C. Maybe... "Toyota’s hybrid and non-hybrid engines -- 14 new designs will be introduced globally by 2015 -- will be used in models scheduled for partial or full redesign in short order." Otherwise, new sheet metal and lights perhaps. I've heard there will be a weight reduction and aerodynamic improvement over most models. Some models will receive AWD with added electric motors in the rear, but I doubt the C will get that. At least The Toyota Mothership is on their toes.
Whole NEW Prius C will be 2018! As most manufacture companies have very high tax if they dont change the model after 3 years! So, They make a car, after 3 years they Re-Style the same model, and after another 3 years they have a new model. Prius C was made in 2012, Re-Style in 2015, New Prius C is in 2018.
Word in backdoor engineering is the US Prius c wkll be manufactured by Mazda in theuir new Mexican plant based on the Mazda 2 redesign, which is a substantial improvement in the handling. Suposedly only 1600 new Mazda 2's are out and the new Pius C is not yet on line. Engine and drivetrain and battery do not appear much different though an improved hybrid package was hinted to yield over 60 mpg. And yes a coupe was also hintedudsing the Mazda 2 coupe chassis with some sporty attributes. If thats true I get one quickly.
Not like a 2 but a 3. Being the owner of a C I usually confuse a Mazda 3 with a C as the front is almost the same!
Incorrect. For the VAST majority of models Toyota uses 5 and 7 year cycles. With a 2 to 5 year refresh.
check Automotive News, Road&Track, Car&Driver and others. Even Toyota has acknowledged. And it is a good thing.
Other than 2018 being about as long as it may be before a new body style his line about taxes is complete fallacy. SGH-T889 ?
The trouble with long term leases is that I am always worrying that my usage will exceed the agreed amount. Sorry ladies... I can't help myself
The real key is the subbing the Prius C to Mazda, well publicized, in their Mexican plant just starting up but no Prius C output yest. Economics control. The Prissy is low production and Mazda has plenty of room; the only slow is the presence of Japanese engineers and techs toaccomodate the redesign of Mazda 2 structure and chassis to the Prius C.Right now it looks like late 2014. Engineering is done; only the assembly line mods are needed. Toyota has identified the C as their lead-in hybrid so the Prius C needs A production where the cost is lower than US or Japan.
The Prius C is NOT low production. Toyota is selling more Prius C than they ever expected. SGH-T889 ?
